RISING STARS OF RGC
Golf as a game has inspired a lot of young people towards playing and being trained at the highest level. Two young stars of the Rambagh Golf Club are indeed making waves. Prakhar Asawa, a young talent of RGC is a 12 year old with tremendous potential. He has been playing golf since the age of 5. He has played various tournaments not only at the national level but also at the international level. The youngster is the son of Mr. Amit Asawa, a two time Ranji trophy winning coach of the Rajasthan national Cricket team with 11c, the highest coaching pinnacle.
At USHA IGU Karnataka and Delhi National Junior Golf championship held in Bengaluru and New Delhi he stood 1st & 3rd respectively in the 'B' Category with gross scores of 272 and 305 in 4 rounds of 18 holes stroke play. At the Rajasthan National Junior Golf Championship hosted at the Rambagh Golf Club, Jaipur he won the 1st position in 'B' Category with a gross score of 288 in 4 rounds of 18 holes stroke play.
Prakhar was the only boy from the Indian squad to achieve a position in the 33rd Asia Pacific Junior Golf Championship at Yangon, Myanmar where he stood 2nd in the team event and 3rd in the 'B' Category with a score of 296 in 3 rounds of 18 holes stroke play. At the Toyota IGU Haryana open as well as Southern India National Junior Golf Championship played at the Golden Greens Golf Resort, Gurgaon and KGA course Bengaluru in May he won the 1st & 3rd positions respectively. He is shortly going to play the Evion Masters Junior Championship which will be held in France.
Another young golfing talent Deepkaran Singh Thakkar whose father, Dr. Harvindra Singh is a member of the RGC, has a passion for golf and has been playing for the past one year. This 12 year old lad very modestly Deep Karan Thakkar attributes his success to the encouragement of his parents and training by his coach Mr. Prahlad Singh Jadeja.
Deepkaran has played different tournaments like, IGU Feedee Tournament at RGC, Qutub Golf Course in Delhi and Golden Greens, Gurgaon. He played the 38th, 40th and 43rd Albatross Junior Golf Tournament. He also played an international tournament, the 10th Mercedes- Benz Junior Asian Golf Championship at Burapha Golf Course, east of Bangkok. He aims to work hard on his game to touch the peak of success.
